Kommentare/ Inhalte: This course offers an introduction to the most significant features and problems of globalization in South Korea. The course reviews economic, sociological, and political theories of globalization and assesses existing globalization processes that produce certain types of development with peculiar social, cultural, political and ecological consequences. In doing so, students are expected to learn how these processes influence the world in general and South Korea in particular. Class sessions will be discussion-based and/ or presentation oriented. Evaluation will be based on written assignments, participation in class discussions, and a presentation on a topic of your choosing.
Lernziel: - A general overview and critical understanding of the various theories of globalization. - General knowledge of the social, economic, and political aspects of globalization. - In-depth understanding of the history and consequences of South Korea’s globalization.
