Comments/contents:
This seminar deals with a comparison of the German and the US nonprofit sector. The seminar is divided into three parts: parts 1 and 2 are an integral part of the seminar, part 3 is an optional offer for 5 students (selection by lot in case there are more interested students).

PART 1: In the first four sessions (15.04., 29.04., 13.05., 20.05.) we will first deal with the theoretical foundations of comparative nonprofit sector research and then compare empirical data (eg on donation, volunteering, etc.). For this purpose, various group presentations are distributed. This part of the seminar will be held in German (other parts in English).

PART 2: On 23.-24.05. we will be visited by students from the Lilly School of Philanthropy at Indiana University (USA). The group will be accompanied by Prof. Dr. Pamala Wiepking. During the two days, group discussions on the topic of the seminar are planned as well as a visit of two nonprofit organizations in Hamburg (including Greenpeace). An exact schedule will follow.

PART 3: This part of the seminar is not compulsory, but instead a voluntary offer for highly motivated students. The students of the Lilly School will travel to the Netherlands (Amsterdam and Rotterdam) after their stay in Hamburg and meet there together with other students from Philadelphia and the Netherlands. Pamala Wiepking has offered that up to 5 students from Hamburg can also participate (27-29.05.2019). The following program items are planned in the Netherlands:
