Description: This course will introduce you to the fundamentals of academic writing, paying particular attention to structure, word choice, punctuation, and style; common mistakes, as well as tips for improving your academic writing skills, will also feature. The course work is based on a variety of materials and exercises designed to help you to plan, draft and write longer pieces in English and will be available for download. Practical tips and critical feedback provided are designed to serve the student far beyond their academic career and into professional life.

Enrollment requirements:

Proof of appropriate language level (minimum B2 for B2 courses, C1 for C1 courses), not older than three years.

This can be achieved by:

Taking our online placement test (link)

Submitting a language certificate from a course at the appropriate level (see website for accepted certificates).

Sending us a copy of the Transcript of Records from STiNE showing completion of a course at the appropriate level.

After sending us the required documents you can then go ahead and register for the respective course(s).

Registrations without proof of the appropriate placement test or certificate will be cancelled.

N.B. If you have already had your level assessed by us in the last three years or have already presented us with a certificate then you do not need to prove your level again.

* Using the Academic Words List and phrase banks * Tools and strategies for editing and grammar

Literature:
- Personalized material will be provided by the instructor. - Paper free course, all digital pdf and ppt. - All materials will be provided over the CommSy workspace.

Additional examination information:
The final exam is a multiple choice, gap-fill and written quiz which includes topics covered in the course. The final exam will take place on the penultimate week of the course.
