The course provides students with the chance to improve and expand their business language skills.
Emphasis is given to vocabulary and grammar and topics covered include: writing formal and informal emails, creating a CV and applying for a job, presenting graphs, brainstorming new products and writing a feasibility report.
Students work individually and in groups, sharing ideas and knowledge, completing tasks such as preparing and giving mini-presentations, and receiving feedback and constructive criticism from one another and the lecturer.
The course includes short vocabulary and grammar exercises and techniques for improving these aspects of language, all of which is complemented by optional online tasks and resources.

Enrollment requirements:

Proof of appropriate language level (minimum B2 for B2 courses, C1 for C1 courses), not older than three years.

This can be achieved by:

Taking our online placement test (link)

Submitting a language certificate from a course at the appropriate level (see website for accepted certificates).

Sending us a copy of the Transcript of Records from STiNE showing completion of a course at the appropriate level.

After sending us the required documents you can then go ahead and register for the respective course(s).

Registrations without proof of the appropriate placement test or certificate will be cancelled.

N.B. If you have already had your level assessed by us in the last three years or have already presented us with a certificate then you do not need to prove your level again.

Learning objectives:
Students will improve and learn new business communication skills, both written and oral in this course.
They will learn how to communicate their ideas more clearly and accurately in a number of ways and on a number of topics, thereby increasing confidence in their business language skills and abilities and further preparing them for future careers.

Literature:
Students receive a series of handouts during the course that provide information and contain exercises to help improve vocabulary and grammar. Additional links to materials and exercises are available on the course’s Unicommsy workspace.
