Kommentare/ Inhalte: The course will consist in a series of small real world industrial problems offered by different supervisors, each one with a different area of expertise. The students will be divided in groups of 4-6 members each and asked to solve the problems and present their results.
Lernziel: The aim is to face the students with real world issues and discuss the interface between the real world industrial problems and applied mathematics.
Vorgehen: The course will be organized as follows: Part one April 2014 - third week - Introductory meeting (Within this day the list of supervisors and topics will be available.) 30 April 2014 - Deadline to choose the topic. The students have to organise themselves in groups (4-6 persons each) and chose a topic. Until 6 June 2014 - The students have time to study the chosen topic, prepare a sketch of the presentation, contact the supervisor for questions and clarifications. Part two - from 10 June to 13 June 2014 The supervisors will be in Hamburg and have office hours every day to discuss the projects. At the end of the week the students will present their projects.
