This lecture series will cover aspects of computer science relevant for scientific computing and numerical analysis. In particular we will cover basic data structures and algorithms and will see how these bulding blocks can improve numerical algorithms for solving partial differential equations.

Lernziel:
At the end of the lectures participants should

• know common data structures and algorithms,
  
• be able to express algorithms and data structures in pseudo code,
  
• be able to analyze algorithms in terms of their asymptotic run-time behavior,
  
• be familiar with applying such algorithms and data structures to numerical methods.
