Lernziel: Goal: To understand the complex nature of sustainability, including its three pillars, with emphasis on social sustainability and the challenges and opportunities for citizen learning processes in different physical and social contexts. Examples of transformed, gentrified and/or contested urban and rurban districts are presented and discussed, as well as the role of popular culture in enhancing learning processes (e.g. hip-hop pedagogy). Understanding of linking issues of sustainability to different physical and social contexts and an introduction to combining theoretical and place-based learning.
