Kommentare/ Inhalte:
In 2015, all 193 member states of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes a set of 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These ambitious, interdependent goals aim to tackle the major environmental, social and economic challenges of our time. All member states committed to achieving them by the year 2030.

However, the SDGs are not only the responsibility of governments. Achieving the goals just 9 years from now will require transformative change involving proactive effort and collaborative partnerships between many types of stakeholders, in both the public and private sectors. In particular, the private sector is included as a vital stakeholder and contributor to the SDGs, by helping to provide innovative solutions to grand challenges. In this practical seminar, you will learn about the SDGs and the role of business in achieving them.

Lernziel:
1. Know the 17 SDGs, their related targets and why they matter.
2. Understand the important role of business in contributing to the SDGs and sustainable development.
3. Understand and identify the interconnectedness of the SDGs, and the implications of this interconnectedness for business organizations.
4. Through a practical case study, critically identify the impacts and evaluate the effectiveness of a current business organization in contributing to the SDGs.

Vorgehen:
The seminar has three parts:
1. Live kick-off session on the 12th of October at 10:00 AM (approximately 1 hour).
2. Self-paced lectures (pre-recorded videos).
3. Live student presentations on three dates: 8th, 15th and 22nd of January.

The entire course will be held online. We will use the following websites and software for the lectures and student presentations:
1. Zoom (for live kick-off session on 12th October and live student presentations in January)
2. OpenOlat (for pre-recorded video lectures, lecture PDFs, discussion forum)
3. STiNE (for course notifications e.g. notification of Zoom links)

During the live kick-off session on 12th October, you will receive information on the course practicalities, course project and presentation. At the end of the session, you will also be given the opportunity to meet your fellow course participants in separate Zoom breakout rooms and find a group partner.

Zusätzliche Hinweise zu Prüfungen:
The presentation is the basis for the course grading (100%).
Students will work together in groups of two. Students will select a company case for analysis and work outside of the scheduled course appointments. Students will then present their findings in January.
