Kommentare/ Inhalte:
How do we mobilize and act collectively? If this question was raised in the middle of the twentieth century, the answer would necessarily go through engagement in a political party or in a social movement - such as a union, local communities, NGOs, etc. The structural changes in the public sphere related to the platformization of communications have led to the emergence of new forms of mobilization, organization, and, consequently, collective action. This seminar seeks to discuss the fundamental traits of a sociology of collective action in digital societies.
Lernziel:
- Outline the debate around collective action in the classical and contemporary sociological discourse
- Identify from a sociological perspective the main characteristics of digital societies
- Comprehend the possibilities and limitations of new forms of organization and their impacts on collective engagement

Our goal will be to understand these contributions, locate them in the debate, and evaluate their systematic strengths and weaknesses.
