Kommentare/ Inhalte: Goal: To increase understanding of civic learning processes and civic participation by combining theoretical and place-based methods of learning and theories of deliberative democracy, especially connected to planning issues. To gain theoretical and practical knowledge for understanding, participating in and organising Deliberative Walks (DW). To understand the role of media and various practices of communication in a Studentlab Deliberative Walks experiment. Studentlab DW is a “social laboratory”, where theories of deliberative democracy and a holistic civic learning method are combined to enhance civic learning processes and interest in participation. A DW will be organised by the participants and will be put into practice in week 37. This course is part of an international research co-operation, as one of three comparative cases of Studentlab courses. The others are in Vaasa, Finland (carried out 2017), and Stellenbosch, South Africa (planned for 2019). Preparatory meeting: Friday, 20.06.19, 14:00-17:00; Studentlab DW: week 37 (09.-13.09.2019).
