Kommentare/ Inhalte:
The aim of this reading course is to become profoundly familiar with Maimonides’ philosophical work the Guide of the Perplexed. We will pay a special attention to Maimonides’ method of writing two messages to two different audiences (exoteric and esoteric writing); we will also focus of specific topics within medieval Jewish philosophy in general and in Maimonides’ in particular (the origin of the world, providence, the commandments, man’s ultimate purpose etc.).


Requirement: Good knowledge of Medieval Hebrew
