Kommentare/ Inhalte: Epistemology is one of the core areas of philosophy. Its subjects are the nature, structure, development and limits of human knowledge. This course will address basic questions of epistemology in general, but also more specific questions from epistemology and the philosophy of science that arise in economics and social sciences. This English-language course is primarily aimed at students of the Master’s programme Politics, Economics, and Philosophy. Limited spaces will be available for students of the BA/MA programme in Philosophy. The course will be fully digital, but at least partly synchronous. The course will be hosted on Microsoft Teams. Students should register for Teams with their University of Hamburg account. Instructions for registering for Teams (in German) may be found at https://www.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/services/kollaboration/microsoft-teams.html . A code for joining the course on Teams will be made available to students who have successfully registered for the course on STiNE along with further information at the beginning of the term.
Literatur: M. Risjord, Philosophy of Social Science (Routledge, 2014), is a good introduction to many of the topics that will be covered in the course.
