Kommentare/ Inhalte: Contents: The course covers central topics of the economics of health and health care, for example, - market failures in the health care - physician incentives - moral hazard - risk selection by health insurers - dynamic models of health production The aim of the course is to provide the economic analytical tools needed to inform public policy debates about health and health care. We will examine a number of important policy issues, e.g., the regulation of health insurance markets and the design of payment schemes. The course requires good knowledge of microeconomics. In addition, students should be familiar with regression analysis. The course consists of a lecture and an exercise session. All material will be available on OPEN OLAT. Literature: The course is partly based on Zweifel, P., F. Breyer and M. Kifmann. Health Economics, 2nd edition. Springer, New York et al., 2009 (available as e-book) Additional literature will be referred to during the course. Grading: Exam duration: 90 min. Student contributions in the course work can improve the final grade for the course by up to 0.7 points.
