Comments/contents:
In this seminar we study topics from an older course of mine on "Advanced Geometry". In that course, a certain class of incidence structures, not discussed in the course "Geometrie", is presented, so-called circle geometries. Depending on the previous knowledge of the participants, there might be some talks on more advanced topics. All topics are suitable starting points for a bachelor's or master's thesis.
Learning objectives:
- in-depth study of material based on "Geometrie" and introduction to neighboring geometric problems
- independent study on a mathematical topic based on literature
- structured presentation of demanding mathematical issues in talk and hand-out
- active participation in a professional discussion
Didactic concept:
- design of a seminar session
- short written paper (hand-out) on the topic of the talk, this has to be submitted before the talk
- intensive support by the instructor in studying the material
- active participation of all students in all seminar sessions
The preliminary session with topic assignment will take place (online) on Thursday, 17.3.2022, 10:00 am. You have to attend in order to be admissed to the seminar. In case you cannot attend, please contact me in advance.
A description of possible topics and more information will be provided in STiNE before the preliminary session.
Literature:
Skript Blunck: Vertiefung Geometrie. This will be provided in STiNE. Possible additional literature will be specified in the preliminary session.
