Course Description:
Many people connect the term "Superpowers" to the Cold War era. What does the term mean in today’s world and who are the contenders for the title-the US, China, the EU or are the real superpowers global corporations like Amazon, Google and Facebook? What role has globalization played in creating these powers? In this course we will attempt to answer these questions and many more, by looking at political and historical events and how they are depicted in the media. Course material will be based on articles and videos from news sources. Students will be required to read/watch an article or video and prepare vocabulary exercises each week. The course will be conducted through a mixture of Zoom and Unicommsy. You will be sent a Zoom link at least a day before the seminar starts.
