Comments/contents: Good ESG performance becomes more relevant for companies besides profitability. Hence, future-oriented companies do need to figure out how to become more sustainable. When engaging systematically in sustainability companies have to find out: - what is the status quo of the companies´ sustainability performance in comparison with its competitors? - what are current and forthcoming sustainability requirements and risks from a corporate and stakeholders perspective? - how to deal with most relevant sustainability issues with a specific focus on carbon management and TCFD? This seminar is designed towards the day-to-day challenges and practical implications of sustainability management. In the course the students will analyse on selected companies with the retail, renewable energies and manufacturing sectors. The course is split up in four sessions: - Introduction to the topic and assignment of students to working groups - Followed by two full-day sessions on Nov. 19, Jan. 14 and a half-day session on Feb. 4. These sessions will include o Assessment of the sustainability performance one company based on a structured Excel-based procedure. Each working group will jointly present their results. o Development of corporate and stakeholder sustainability requirements for companies. o Development of corporate (carbon) strategies and scenario analysis. The results will be presented and critically discussed by all participants. Finally each group will develop an action plan for relevant sustainability issues within its respective sector.
